RINGOES, NJ — With great sadness the family of Ed Simpson announces his passing on Sunday, July 8, 2007. Ed and his wife, Doris founded Muirhead in 1974 fulfilling a dream they both had. CHAMBERSBURG, PA — The Open-hearth Cookbook: Recapturing the Flavor of Early America by Suzanne Goldenson and Doris Simpson has been reprinted by the Alan C. Hood Publishing Company. This is a basic "how to" book to show modern folks how to enjoy hearth-cooked meals today. Early American cooking implements are described as well as cooking techniques such as baking, roasting, simmering and other techniques used to cook on an open fire. HUNTERDON HILLS PLAYHOUSE, HAMPTON, NJ — Muirhead will join with other Hunterdon County fine food establishments in preparing and serving gourmet foods to raise funds for The Arc of Hunterdon County on Monday, September 26, 2005. Arc is a not-for-profit organization providing services and supports to children and adults with mental retardation and related disabilities. More information is available at www.archunterdon.org. |

RINGOES, NJ — The Simpson Family celebrate and enjoy the fall harvest on Thanksgiving day by baking five wonderful pies including from left to right: Pear and Ginger Pie with a lattice top (from Ken Haedrich's 2004 Pie cookbook), Muirhead pecan pumpkin pie, cranberry and raisin pie, apple galette, and Muirhead two-layer pecan pumpkin and green tomato mincemeat pie. |

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA — Muirhead of Ringoes, NJ was awarded a bronze medal for their Muirhead Horseradish Mustard at the 2004 Napa Valley Mustard Festival World-Wide Mustard Competition. This competition is open to all commercial mustard producers throughout the world. The judging takes place under the guidance of Barry Levenson who is Curator of the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. |

LONG BRANCH, NEW JERSEY — The New Jersey Board of Agriculture received a gift basket of New Jersey products including Muirhead Green Tomato Mincemeat and Muirhead Ginger Peachey Butter at the annual State Agricultural Convention. Ed Simpson attended the convention as a state Grange delegate to discuss the state legislative agenda for the year. Ed has been an active member of Ringoes Grange #12 for almost 30 years. |

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Edward Simpson (left) presented a check to George Muller, Regional Director of the Chaine des Rotisseurs to support the Chaine's young chef program that awards scholarships to men and women who continue their culinary education at schools such as the Culinary Institute of America and Johnson & Wales. The young chefs are students from local high schools, vocational-technical schools, and community colleges who are interested in the culinary arts. The Chaine des Rotisseurs, is the world's oldest food and wine society. Ed was an officer of the Hunterdon-Princeton chapter of the Chaine des Rotissers for more than a decade. |

RINGOES, NJ — Barbara Simpson, daughter of Ed and Doris, joined Muirhead full time in January. Barbara has been surrounded by good food all her life – at family meals/parties and the family restaurant. She also enjoys trying out new recipes and ingredients in her spare time. She is trained as an environmental engineer. She is pictured with her feline friend "Ben." | ![]() |
